Riesling

Riesling — in Moldova usually Rhine Riesling, to set it apart from the unrelated Welschriesling — is a white variety of German origin (VIVC 10077, Riesling Weiss), one of whose parents is Heunisch Weiss. In Moldova it is among the leading varieties of the Codru PGI and covered 959 ha in the Register at the end of 2019, 600 of them within the geographical indications. It ripens slowly and gives aromas from citrus and green apple to peach and apricot, and is made in every style from dry to sweet and sparkling.
