Fetească Albă

Fetească Albă is an old white variety of Romanian origin and the most planted local grape in Moldova: 651 ha in the Vine and Wine Register at the end of 2019, 370 of them within the protected geographical indications. It is self-pollinating and frost-hardy but prone to grey rot, and ripens to 199–223 g/l of sugar with low acidity of 3.6–4.7 g/l. The wines are light, fresh and delicate, with notes of acacia, wild flowers, citrus and green apple; it is made dry, off-dry, semi-sweet and sparkling. It is a parent of Fetească Regală.
