Glera

Glera, long known as Prosecco, is a white Italian variety (VIVC 9741), one of whose parents is Vulpea (confirmed by DNA markers). It ripens late, reaching moderate sugar of about 17% with 6–7 g/l acidity, and is the main grape of Prosecco sparkling wine from the Veneto, around Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. In Moldova it is rare: Asconi makes a brut sparkling wine from it in the Codru PGI.
