Codru

The Codru region covers the centre of Moldova — the forested Codri Plateau — from Bălți and Fălești in the north to Hîncești and Răzeni in the south, and on the left bank of the Dniester from Rașcov to Tiraspol. IGP Codru is the largest of the three wine IGP zones: about 47 thousand hectares of vineyards by CORINE 2023, more than half of the country's total. Oak, beech and hornbeam forests cover a quarter of the area and soften the extremes; active temperatures sum to 2,900–3,100 °C. The underground cellars of Cricova and Mileștii Mici are here.
