Citronny Magaracha

Citronny Magaracha (“Magarach's lemon”) is an interspecific white variety crossed in 1978 by P. Golodriga at the Magarach institute in Crimea; VIVC (16982) gives its parents as Madeleine Angevine × (Magarach 124-66-26 × Novoukrainsky Ranny), confirmed by DNA markers, with the synonym Magarach 34-78-10. The vine ripens early to mid-season, crops generously, withstands frosts down to about −25 °C and resists fungal diseases well. Its wines have citrus and peach notes with a light muscat tone, still or sparkling. It is grown mainly in Ukraine and Russia; in Moldova Apriori makes a sparkling Maestro from it.
